5/23/22 Update: Different Audi, same high level of satisfaction as when I started using this shop a few years ago! They got my car turned around very quickly, and provided a much-appreciated loaner to use while they did the work. I can't say enough great things about Niles and his team. First time customer, I was really impressed with how thorough, professional, and friendly the entire staff was. Niles and Mandy provided in-depth and transparent explanations for all work they recommended, and they made sure I had the right expectations during every stage in the process. They even sent "before" and "after" pictures of the work, which was a great added bonus. I have found the shop I want to be handling my Audi from now on.

Niles and his team were fast, efficient and most impressively professional. The job was tedious, but it was completed before the estimated time. Pricing was more than fair and reasonable. Being a fellow business owner in the automotive industry. We know all too well, it’s hard to find a shop to trust with your vehicle. As well as refer customers to a shop that will treat them as well as we do. I brought my 2017 BMW X5M to Portland Motor Works after having it serviced at the BMW dealership (will not name the specific one) and after inspecting their inspection myself, it did not match up to their assessment. Me and Nile’s agreed on some of the questionable inspections the dealership allegedly performed. When owning a BMW, you can expect higher than normal vehicle maintenance costs. As the ultimate driving machine has so much technology built into every aspect of the vehicle. You can expect things to break more often than vehicles with a simpler design. Given, I don’t believe you should pay exorbitant costs, just because the name on the vehicle. Being in the automotive industry, parts are all about branding, you can find the exact parts without the fancy branding for a third of the costs. BMW dealership hit me with the “M tax”, their excuse is, well it’s a M vehicle. So it warrants charging you double, if not quadruple. I’m pretty mechanically inclined individual, if I had a lift in my shop. I would handle all maintenance on my vehicle. But when it comes to drivetrain fluids, the time, disposables, parts, fluid disposal. It was cheaper to just pay someone, as access to these areas are tight with no lift. So I had Portland Motor Works do the work, they provided me a fair quote and got scheduled. Everything was done in a timely manner and everything was reset after the service. They also provided fluid samples at my request without hesitation and marked exactly, what fluid each sample was. The BMW dealership had my vehicle for almost two weeks and didn’t even reset my oil counter, I had to do it myself. So anybody looking to maintain their ultimate driving machine and not get ripped off. Do yourself a favor, research the parts needed to fix your vehicle, the tools needed to fix your vehicle, research the repair procedure, the labor time and add up all the costs and time involved, you will find out that when Portland Motor Works provides you a quote. It will be a fair one and you will have peace of mind with their warranty. Thank you Niles, Mandy, and the rest of the team!

Especially since CoVid started, it’s not common anymore for a business to answer the phone, be extremely courteous and make you feel that they value your business. PMW did all of that and performed timely service on my X3. No pressure to perform extra service. Will take my car here from now on.

I cannot recommend PMW enough!!! I bought a used 2014 BMW X3 back in October and within a month it broke down. With cars being few and far between due to supply chain shortage and COVID I knew I needed to find a good mechanic and that it would likely be cheaper than trading in. I found PMW mostly because they were 6 blocks from my house and had decent reviews but I keep coming back Because of the service. As a real estate agent it’s extremely important that I have a reliable car and BMWs require regular and competent service. They replaced our coolant pump, and repaired an electrical problem which had been ongoing since we purchased it. We take it for it’s regular oil/lube service and they offer courtesy cars. But what really won me over was today. I stupidly didn’t completely turn off the car (had all the electrics still running like AC and radio) and didn’t pay attention to the time. When I went to leave my clients house and turn my car on it wouldn’t start. Before calling my insurance roadside assistance I called PMW to verify it was ok for me to be towed to their office after hours and Niles the owner called me, asked me where I was located (just 5 mins away off of Woodstock) and said - don’t worry I’ll come there that way you don’t have to wait for a tow. AND HE DROVE TO MY CLIENTS HOUSE AND RESCUED ME! He then followed behind me back to the shop to ensure I made it safely and they are recharging my aftermarket battery (which the prior owner put in not me or PMW) overnight while I drive their loaner car. I got home and told my husband I might leave him for Niles and then decided I needed to write them a review. They are AMAZING and if you don’t have a BMW you should go buy one just so you can work with them. They ARE THAT GOOD!

Sometimes a BMW can be a challenge to maintain. Face it, these are tech packed cars both under the hood and inside. Without a quality service center you will be lost and hate your car. PMW has been the greatest resource I have for keeping my car in my driveway and not in a used car lot. If you have one, go here. I consider myself an above average, albeit shade tree, mechanic. Brakes and oil service are well within my wheel house. I use PMW for everything data or code related.

My BMW was experiencing a long term mystery illness. Periodically, it would apply brakes without my intervention. While driving. Needless to say, this was distressing. PMW did a very thorough investigation and tons of research, when they found this was reported once in the UK. They informed me of the potential root cause and the possible solutions. We started with the least invasive, a software update. This fixed my issue! The team here is very engaged, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful and friendly.

Great place! Portland Motorworks came highly recommended as a place to take my Audi. They did not disappoint. On top of doing top notch work, they are pleasant and easy to deal with. Highly recommend!
