Portland Motor Works
Amazing service. Started taking my BMWs here after I finally realized I was being raked over the coals by the dealer and that it wasn't worth the convenience to continue using them. Googled BMW repair and, based on reviews, called Niles at Portland Motor Works when the air conditioning went out on my X5 - when I spoke with him he explained what he thought the problem was and his explanation was almost verbatim what I was told by a very good friend of mine who knows a ton about cars, so that immediately established a level of trust. He fixed my car for about a quarter of what I was going to be charged by BMW. When I took my Z3 in for a service, Niles let me know they'd found a problem and gave me the price on it and I authorized him to fix it. He called back later to tell me that once they'd dug into the engine, they realized they'd made a mistake and it was something else and the new price to fix it was about $300 less than what he'd quoted. I don't think I have ever in my life and a mechanic tell me that they'd made a mistake and then charged me less. My Z3 had some damage to the bumper that I wanted to fix without involving my insurance company so I asked Niles about it. He not only recommended a place called Lents Body Shop, got the estimate for me, which was extremely reasonable and he then dropped my car off there and made the arrangements for the repair, all i had to do was pick it up when it was ready. Turns out that Lents also has quality customer service and workmanship.
